iTunes web Preview : AppStore category

The iTunes web Preview now adds an AppStore category.

Apple : Flash is obsolete

During an interview about the iPad, S. Jobs may have stated that Flash is among obsolete technologies, like were floppy disks (removed since first iMac), Firewire 400 (many don’t share this idea) and CD (also not true, as until we get lossless on ITMS, there hasn’t been better format than CD, except SACD – however it didn’t succeed).

Adobe then responded the same as usual, stating Flash represents 80% of videos on the web, and that HTML5 won’t be completed before years (that is false, considering the rate of its implementing in browsers, despite the spec being only 6 months old). The reality it that Flash generates high revenues through ads, and Adobe couldn’t then get anything from the iPhone market.

SampleLogic Morphestra

SampleLogic also released recently Morphestra, a library that includes 1200 instruments (27 Gb), divided into 3 categories : Atmosphere, Instrumentals, Percussive. The interface features 40 effects and morphing (Kontakt 4 required). The software is provided on a 160 Gb hard disk (USB2 and Firewire 800, 3 years warranty), and it is priced 699$. Audio demos are available.

SampleLogic A.I.R Expanded

SampleLogic presents A.I.R Expanded, that brings enhanced versions of existing instruments, plus 100 new instruments, 35 new multis and a new interface. The update is priced 50$ (360$ for the full version – 6,5 Gb). A 1,4 Ghz G4 is required (however it should work on a 1,25 Ghz G4 – except for convolution effects if present), as well as Kontakt 3.5 (the latest version compatible with PowerPC – Kontakt 4 requires an Intel mac). Audio demos are provided.

Nord Sample Library : NordLead 1,2,3 samples

NordLead 1, 2 & 3 original samples and patchs can be downloaded for free for Nord Electro 3 and Nord Wave owners. Audio demos are also provided.

FXpansion BFD Heavy

FXpansion presents BFD Heavy, an extension that provides two Yamaha kits (Recording Custom and Birch Custom Absolute), and that is downloadable for 70$. Audio demos are available.
We can also download at DFB2 demo (standalone only, one kit, velocity limited to 4 levels, 16 bits), 320 Mb size. Despite not being supported on G4, it may work on these processors.

A new interesting trailer of Toy Story 3 is available at Apple site. The movie is expected this June.

64 bits Cocoa Photoshop in CS5

Adobe’s CS5 suite may finally bring 64 bits (then Cocoa) version of Photoshop for MacOSX. Moreover Flash tools will allow to develop native iPhone applications (that is by using a compiler that Adobe presented recently – in order to circumvent lack of Flash plugin in iPhone).

Spectrasonics provides two new demos of Omnisphere : a demo from Jordan Rudess (Dream Theatre) at NAMM 2010, and a demo from Diego Stocco.

Prime Loops presents Orchestral Scores, a library of 100 orchestral loops (royalties free, 584 Mb). It is available at download for 26,55$. An audio demo is provided, as well as demo samples (56 Mb, 9 wav samples).
