The first Midi interface for iPhone, iConnectMIDI, has been announced. Besides the usual connector for external power supply, this compact device provides two Midi IN ports, two MIDI out ports, a standard USB port (to connect a Midi instrument fitted with USB connection), a mini-USB port (to connect to a computer – in the same way as Fastlane USB Midi interface), and finally a RJ-50 connector (network) to connect to an iPhone. It will allow to share Midi message between an iPhone, external Midi instruments and a computer, simultaneously.

We will then be able to use iPhone’s multi-touch screen (from existing or future applications) to control external Midi instruments (for example an external sampled guitar from iShred), or the opposite (control iPhone’s audio applications from an external Midi keyboard or sequencer). The price isn’t available yet.
